Thomas met Caroline in 2018. She had just come back from a year travelling in Australia. Her parents, farmers from the Stoumont region, let her move into a small family cabin that had stood on their land since the 1980s. She made it her refuge.
Thomas and Caroline fell in love fast. They started spending their weekends together in that same small cabin. It had not changed much since the 1950s. A few cosmetic touches over the years, nothing more.
When COVID hit, Thomas and Caroline took shelter in the cabin full time. Little by little, an idea took hold: renovate the whole place, from the ground up.
Money was tight, so Thomas and Caroline rolled up their sleeves and did the renovation themselves. Every board, every tile, every coat of paint. Along the way, they even found a 1981 newspaper hidden in the old walls, a small piece of the cabin's history.
Thomas found his calling in hosting. Watching guests feel at home in a chalet he rebuilt with his own hands gives him real joy. It is what drives the whole project.
Today, Thomas and Caroline are deep into their next renovation: a full industrial loft conversion in Schaerbeek, which will become their own home. Same story: they are doing it all themselves.
The View is the result of that story: a 1950s cabin, renovated by hand, now ready to welcome you.
